Why does cognition constantly get in the way of our desired outcomes?
I often stand in the middle of two decisions, one easy and one difficult, and I use memory, perception, and desire to inform my action. But I don’t always act OR I only act based on a skewed weighting system (i.e. perception being a bigger factor than desire for a certain outcome).
OK - now in plain english - it’s time to make solid decisions and stick with them. No more wavering. No more fear of the unknown. No more skewed perception. Nike had it right - just do it. I’m not the type to put a lot of stock into corporate slogans but in this case it fits.
I’m surprised at the popularity of Barack Obama at this point but I’m feeling more and more that he is the person for the job of POTUS.
Let’s be frank - he doesn’t have a large cache of governance experience to draw from and that is (and should be) a concern for voters. But he is proving to be a top-notch decision maker and leader through a soon-to-be-a-blueprint campaign for the future (Axelrod for Sec of State?)
While McCain, Inc. remains entirely predictable with their campaign playbook (see bully pulpit), Obama is remaining on point with a positive message and isn’t backing down from the chicken hawk attacks.
I’m very impressed with this new company here in the valley - www.skydeck.com.
They claim to optimize your mobile phone bill spend and extract your true social network (i.e. the people you actually talk to and interact with, verus virtual community conversations). I signed up and hope to get into their beta program. They claim to be a mobile company that doesn’t rely heavily on strong carrier relationships - and can be a semi-exclusive D2C in the mobile space. I wish them luck.
Also, check out their site for the top notch blog.
On a side note, I’m cutting my hair today — a quasi-buzz-cut — we’ll see how it turns out
I’m sick of following my dreams. I’m just gonna ask where they’re going and hook up with them later. - MH
A bit of levity to mirror my mood - but apropos to my mandate. That sentence sounds entirely too cryptic. So, more plainly put, I’ve been especially motivated lately due to a bit more pressure in my life.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our aspirations / dreams just came to us … or is the true value of success in this area a function of the process in getting there? I’m getting closer and closer to my biggest dream (maybe more of a goal than a dream, but anyway) in life, conquering PD. I was thinking yesterday - I wonder if I’ll miss the process of recovery - or will I just revel in my accomplishment and move on to something new.
The rose garden in Golden Gate park is beginning to take shape — a sunny Sunday
My second summer in San Francisco is just starting. It’s cold. I’ve been missing the Austin weather. Hot nights with cold beer and warm queso on a back porch in July. I wonder what city is next? NYC? Back to Chicago? For now I’ve got San Francisco and I look forward to making the best of it. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a niche that keeps me here for a while.
Getting into character for an audition tomorrow. Playing a psycho killer — i’m looking forward to making some interesting choices for this guy.

What are you going to spend your $600 on?
Shrub is telling that it’s going to help ease the pressure from rising gas prices and food shortages. So the formula is (credit to Bill Maher) ::
receive $600 from a government that is tightly tied into big food and big oil
big food and big oil continue to meet their revenue objectives and have no incentive to reduce the cost the consumer
big food and big oil spend more $$ on ‘campaign contributions’ for their congressional supporters
congressmen/women receive a nice golden parachute in the form of a cushy exec or consulting job from big food / big oil after they’re voted out for not being able to push policies that reduce the nut required for the middle class to keep their heads above water
We may as well all just go to Vegas and throw our $600 on the craps table —
I was reading this article in Newsweek and I thought it was interesting and needed to be shared - It’s sad that something as trivial as Playboy could be banned for our soldiers in Iraq. I’m pretty sure popular opinion aligns with my sentiments … but then again, what does a con care about popular opinion. That’s for commies!

An absolutely wonderful woman that I will miss dearly.
Although I didn’t plan on going, I was on my way to the BART this past Saturday when I noticed a huge protest march through the streets of San Francisco. It was a sea of music, people, colors, young and old. I took some good photos but this one is my favorite … it was a guy on the BART with a “Green Party” t-shirt and an Abe Lincoln beard. It’s a pretty simple message…
